Training

The Tungland Corporation offers comprehensive training to all employees as well as affordable training open to all in the community.  We draw from more than 35 years of combined experience in the field, and we pride ourselves in providing a wide range of extensive classes.  Our training is offered in both morning and evening sessions to meet the needs of all learners. 

Our Article 9 and Client Intervention Training classes are taught by instructors certified by the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD).

Our Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid (FA) classes are taught by instructors certified by The American Safety and Health Institute.

DCW Fundamentals and Developmental Disabilities Modules

The Tungland Corporation is now training in DCW!  As of October 1st, 2012, all employees doing In-Home Support Services, ATC, personal care and homemakers for ALTCS members must be trained in DCW.  Don't wait, get certified now! 

ARTICLE 9

An overview of consumers' rights, confidentiality and consent, prohibitions, the purpose of Program Review Committee (PRC)  and Human Rights Committee (HRC), and positive behavior techniques.

CLIENT INTERVENTION TECHNIQUES

Focuses on prevention of behavioral outburts, positive behavior support, redirection; as well as physical techniques for managing behavior.

MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION

An in-service that introduces students to common medications.  We discuss the purpose of the medication, as well as the proper way to distribute and document medication.

CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION (CPR)

Both classroom and hands-on training in basic and up-to-date techniques in CPR and Automated External Difibrulation (AED) for the community and workplace.  Our trainers are board-certified by American Safety and Health Institute.

FIRST AID (FA)

Classroom training of essential basic first aid that is up-to-date for the community and the workplace.  Our trainers are board-certified by the American Safety and Health Institute.

INDIVIDUAL SERVICE PLAN (ISP)

An overview of of the ISP process, as well as a discussion of the role of the ISP team.  We also discuss Behavior Treatment Plans and confidential consumer files.

DRIVER SAFETY

An overview of company policy regarding vehicle maintenance and use, as well as a discussion of defensive driving techniques.

In addition, our training department offers classes that focus on:

ASSISTED LIVING

A certified module that trains staff on proper care and enrichment of the lives of those in our elder care population.

IN HOME TRAINING

Consumer specific, on-site training for staff working at our residential sites.

We offer extended training for all administrators.  These in-services focus on consumer funds, petty cash, manager responsibilities and program writing.

We maintain all staff certification in Bloodborne Pathogens, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, First Aid, Article 9, and Client Intervention Training by offering recertification classes.
